THE Minister for Employment and Learning, Stephen Farry has announced the consolidation of the Working Time Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016.
The regulations have now been consolidated from 11 pieces of legislation to one making them more accessible to employers. The regulations are a positive contribution to the Northern Ireland employment relations framework; laying down minimum conditions relating to weekly working time, rest entitlements and annual leave, and making special provision for working hours and health assessment in relation to night workers.
Mr Farry said: “These regulations will consolidate and replace the provisions of
the Working Time Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 and ten Statutory Rules which amended it from 1998 to 2009.” The at-a-glance guide guidance is available on Department for Employment and Learning website at: https://
