Health Care Company Seeking Staff

17th September 2013

A healthcare company is poised to seek 33 recruits for jobs in the nursing home sector in Northern Ireland.

Servicesource Healthcare currently has a total of 33 contract/permanent jobs in the Antrim, Derry/Londonderry, Belfast and Down areas including care of the elderly, mental health and learning disability.

Advertisments for the posts are expected to be issued shortly. The company says it aims to keep skilled professionals in the country rather than them seeking employment abroad.

Servisource Regional Manager, Lisa Russell said: “We have the best trained nurses in the world who take great pride in their profession and who will continue to look overseas for job opportunities.

“As a result we need to educate our nursing professionals about the benefits of working in the Nursing Home environment, including the vast opportunities for faster career progression whilst still keeping their nursing skills up to-date.”

She added: “We are urgently calling on all nurses to take up these opportunities and keep their skills in our country.”

Meanwhile, Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster renewed the call for local companies to grasp the relevant business opportunities and export their goods and services to the China-Hong Kong Region.

Speaking at a seminar in Belfast organised by Hong Kong Development Council and UK Trade and Investment, and hosted by Invest Northern Ireland she said:

“China and other fast-growing Asian economies are increasingly important to Northern Ireland if we are to boost our exports.

“I believe that the demand for local products and services exists around the world but too many businesses are missing out on these opportunities, especially in emerging markets.

“The focus on high growth markets such as China is an integral part of The Northern Ireland Executive’s strategy to transform Northern Ireland into a vibrant, private sector-led economy. Our domestic market is too small to drive the private sector growth required to make a step change in our economy.

“Too many of our exporters have historically relied on near markets such as the Republic of Ireland or Great Britain. We need to extend our reach and take advantage of the many opportunities that exist across the globe.”

The Minister pointed to the achievements of local companies in the market, including White’s Speedicook in Tandragee, Tyrone’s Fivemiletown Creamery and Dunbia in Dungannon.
