INDUSTRY professionals came together at the recent DMS awards to celebrate the achievements of candidates who have successfully completed their CIPD qualifications and awards this year.

Attending the 11th annual awards ceremony in the Stormont Hotel, Belfast were members of the CIPD Northern Ireland Branch, colleagues, family and leading HR/L&D representatives. As media partner for the event, nijobfinder was also present to hand out the award for candidate of the year.

Forty Two candidates out of the 89 individuals who have successfully completed their CIPD qualifications and awards in the past year were presented with their certificates on the night.

John McGurk, Head of CIPD for Scotland and Northern Ireland was present on the night to present candidates with their certificates. Congratulating everyone on their hard work and commitment he said: “It’s my great pleasure to commend and celebrate the achievements of DMS Candidates in achieving CIPD Qualifications. Your achievement is one to be proud of.

In addition to presenting certificates to those who had successfully completed their CIPD qualifications, DMS also announced the following Special Award Winners on the night:

Foundation Level Qualifications Outstanding Achievement Award:
Sponsored by Employers for Childcare Charitable Group and presented by Diane Hill.
Winner: Bernard Lynn, Transport NI.
Bernard completed the CIPD Foundation Certificate in Learning & Development Practice.

Intermediate Level Qualifications Outstanding Achievement Award:
Sponsored by Diamond Recruitment Group and presented by Donna Parker.
Winner: Rachel McErlean, Bank of Ireland
Rachel completed the CIPD Intermediate Diploma in Human Resource Management.

Advanced Level Qualifications, Outstanding Achievement in Examinations:
Sponsored by Pinsent Masons and presented by John Kelly.
Winner: Lauren Christie, Wrightbus
Lauren completed the CIPD Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management. Her Award recognised her achievement in successfully completing two CIPD 3-hour exams in the same week and achieving a Merit Grade. She was one of 15% who gained a merit in the UK.

Sonya and Patrick recently completed the CIPD Advanced Diploma in HRM.

Candidate of the Year 2015 Award:

Winner: Robert Rees, Domino’s Pizza
Robert successfully completed the CIPD Intermediate Diploma in HRM.

HR/L&D Professional of the Year 2015:

Winner: William Young, HSC Leadership Centre

HR Team of the Year 2015:
Sponsored by Diamond Recruitment Group and presented by Donna Parker.
Winner: South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust

The Awards night was also an opportunity to congratulate DMS candidates Hannah Crossey who won the CIPD NI Student of the Year 2015 in May and Eve Watson who was named as the CIPD South West Wales Student of the Year 2015 in October.

Plans to offer new learning and development qualifications at foundation and intermediate level were announced on the night as was DMS’ new partnership with local, mental health charity, Mindwise to deliver a unique programme on coaching for positive mental well-being in the workplace.

Concluding events managing director of DMS, Lynn Carson said: “It has been a pleasure to work with our candidates over the past year and the success of the 89 individuals who have completed their CIPD professional qualification with DMS in the past year shows that we continue to add value to the HR&D Profession throughout industry in Northern Ireland. Congratulations to everyone.”
