The appointment is for a full-time, permanent member of staff to teach Geography up to A Level standard. The department intends to offer BTEC Travel and Tourism at Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Sixth Form, through Pearson Education, from September 2024, which would be included within teaching commitments of the Geography Department.
The Geography Department operates very successfully at all Key Stages, with large numbers of boys choosing Geography at GCSE and A-Level. All boys study Geography at Key Stage 3. There are normally 4 GCSE Geography classes in each Year group in Key Stage 4, and 2 (sometimes 3) A-Level Geography classes in Years 13 and 14. The CCEA specification is followed at GCSE and at A Level.
In addition to Geography/Travel and Tourism, the post may require a subsidiary subject to be taught. This is most likely to be, but not limited to, Religious Education and/or ICT to Key Stage 3.
