HAYS are working in partnership with a national company that provides design and build service for UK Water Industry. They have been awarded a new project in Northern Ireland, hence seeking to appoint a Senior Design Manager.With over a thousand staff working across regional centres, supporting long-term water sector frameworks and two recently won frameworks, operating both as a sole contractor but also in joint ventures and alliances. Your new role

As a Senior Design Manager, you will cover the design management for the Northern Ireland Water framework. You will directly report to the Regional Engineering Lead and Technical Discipline Lead for Design Management.

Key Responsibilities of a Senior Design Manager:

• You must demonstrate a strong commitment to Health & Safety in design by adhering to local specifications, codes, regulations, and relevant legislation.
• You will be leading the design team, ensuring a customer-focused approach.
• You must organize all design elements, document them in the Project Management Plan, and provide regular status updates.
• You must produce cost-effective technical solutions while maintaining quality standards and meeting delivery timelines. Provide technical support during the assembly and commissioning stages.
• You are required to contribute to sustainability goals by reducing carbon footprints in solutions.
• You must work effectively with partners, backgrounds, and disciplines.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in the Senior Design Manager role, we require candidates that have extensive experience in multidisciplinary design management, particularly in a design-build environment.

Educated to a degree level in an engineering-related discipline is essential. Being a Chartered Engineer in an engineering-related field is crucial.
You must be results-oriented, with the ability to set targets and effectively manage and motivate multidisciplinary teams to achieve objectives within specified time, cost, and quality parameters. It is important that you are familiar with CDM (Construction Design and Management) and construction health & safety is important. Proven experience in large-scale project delivery is highly valued. A good general understanding of various aspects of water treatment, including civil engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering, and project management, is beneficial. You should be able to clearly and confidently present technical proposals.
