JOB PURPOSE:
To
provide technical advice, support and assistance in the implementation of the Technology
and Design, Engineering & Construction (combined) educational Programme and to assist with maintenance work required throughout the School.
MAIN DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under
the direction of the designated line manager the post holder will be
responsible for the following in accordance with appropriate regulations:
Advice
and Support
To
provide technical advice, support and assistance in the implementation of the
Technology and Design, Engineering & Construction educational programme.
To
provide technical advice, support and assistance in the implementation of the
School’s Repairs and Maintenance Programme of work.
The
post holder will be required to keep abreast of all relevant technical
developments.
The
post holder will be required to participate fully in all relevant INSET and
disseminate information as appropriate.
Provision
and maintenance of facilities and practical resources
Provide
technical advice, support and assistance to teaching staff in the development
and manufacture of teaching aids and models.
Preparation
of resources for all Technology and Design, Engineering & Construction classes
including the setting up, testing, demonstration and dismantling of suitable
resources as per agreed schemes of work.
Collect,
clean and store all equipment and materials securely in designated storage
areas. Ensure items are maintained in a
state of ‘ready for use’.
Dispose
of used materials in a safe and approved manner.
Ensure
that mandatory and/or statutory checks of materials and equipment are carried
out by qualified personnel.
Inform
designated line manager of materials and equipment found to be in an
unsatisfactory/unsafe condition and arrange for repair and disposal of such
items.
Ensure
no unauthorised person has unsupervised access to equipment and materials when
not in use.
Advise
on health and safety issues in relation to the use of equipment.
Administration
Development,
maintenance and operation of manual and/or computerised systems in relation to
administrative tasks associated with the area of work.
Maintenance
of an inventory/records in the Technology and Design, Engineering &
Construction departments.
Assistance
in the ordering/purchasing, receiving, checking, storing and distribution of resources
for the Technology and Design, Engineering & Construction Departments and
to enable the repairs and maintenance of the School to be completed.
Repairs
and Maintenance of School
Carry
out repairs and maintenance as directed by the Bursar and / or Principal.
Assist
in defining a programme of works required to maintain the School to a
satisfactory standard.
Liaise
with trades people when on site completing repairs and maintenance and ensure
work is being completed as required.
Keep
an appropriate level of stock required to complete any required repairs and
maintenance work.
Contact
relevant trades people to see quotations for work when required.
Assist
with evacuation in emergencies.
