TEAM W5 MEMBER - FULL TIME / PART TIME & CASUAL

SITE:                        W5 at Odyssey
RESPONSIBLE TO:   Visitor Services Manager
LOCATION:              2 Queen’s Quay, Belfast, BT3 9QQ

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Team W5 members have a key responsibility in helping to ensure that visitors have enjoyable, informed, engaging and safe experiences at W5.  This involves working directly with families, individuals, groups and a variety of audiences in our exhibition areas, events and corporate functions.

MAIN DUTIES

After appropriate training the post holder will be involved in the range of activities across W5 as outlined below:

• Assisting the public to have an enjoyable and engaging visit by facilitating their interaction with the exhibits, and by creating a comfortable, safe and supportive environment for all visitors.  This will entail providing one to one guidance to children, young people, families and groups on a regular basis. 
• Implementing the Child Protection & Vulnerable Adult’s procedures and working in accordance with W5’s Policy. 
• Providing excellent customer service to visitors in W5’s shop, coffee shop and vending.  This includes till work, stocking shelves, stock taking, demonstrating products, and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and order.
• Meeting and greeting group leaders and assisting with the management and orientation of groups (especially school and youth groups) throughout their visit. 
• Providing assistance with evacuations and after training acting as a Fire Warden with responsibility for areas designated on the daily rota.  In the event of an emergency situation this involves safely evacuating visitors from the building, candidates should be comfortable with heights.
• Providing assistance with corporate events in W5.  This includes assisting with preparations for the event, including set up, providing support throughout the duration of the event, acting as a link between the event organiser, W5 management and the catering contactor as required, assisting with set down of the event and completing end of month stock takes.
• Maintaining non-technical aspects of the exhibits and equipment including cleanliness and orderliness and notifying the technical team of any faults.
• Assisting the demonstration team to deliver events.  This may involve providing individual support and guidance to groups of children and young people; school or general public audiences within W5 or as part of our outreach programme. 
• Cleaning duties throughout W5 as required (including the exhibits, exhibition area, and public spaces).
• Ensure that you comply with W5 dress code policy.
• Helping to process and move deliveries within W5.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 
TEAM W5 MEMBER

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL CRITERIA


1. 4 GCSE at grade C or above [or equivalent]
2. Minimum of 6 months experience in a customer facing role within the last 2 years specifically in hospitality or retail or tourism sector. 
3. A positive attitude to customers; being proactive ensuring that a diverse range of customers have their expectations met.
4. A confident speaker both with individuals and presenting to groups.
5. Ability to work will in a busy team environment.
6. Ability to use own initiative to solve customer queries
7. Willingness to be flexible, work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
8. Appointment to these posts will require an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate from AccessNI which meets the standards required by W5.


DESIRABLE CRITERIA
Where the number of applications received warrants, W5 reserves the right to apply the following desirable criteria:-
A) Possess a current basic food hygiene certificate [gained within the last 4 years].
B) Possess a current First Aid Certificate [gained within the last 4 years].
C) Possess a recent World Host Certificate [gained within the last 3 years]

Salary £15,466 per annum [pro-rata for part time hours]
