The Role:
We require suitably experienced high calibre physicists to fulfill a research and development role within our biochip array technology section. The successful candidates will employ a broad range of approaches, including design, development, verification and validation to develop novel imaging systems for use with our biochip array technology.
Major Duties:
1. Develop and implement imaging techniques using CCD and CMOS sensors and other optical imaging systems
2. Develop software for image processing applications on C# or other software platform
3. Design and execute experiments independently, identify scientific and technical problems and provide potential solutions.
4. Interpret data and discuss experimental results within team and department meetings.
5. Maintain accurate work and laboratory documentation.
6. Prioritize workflow to meet deadlines.
7. Conduct scientific literature searches for project development purposes and continued professional development.
8. Interact effectively with staff of diverse disciplines across the organization.
The Candidates:
Essential attributes:
1. BSc in Physics, Mathematics or other numerate disciplines.
2. Demonstrable understanding of the principles of imaging employing CCD and CMOS sensors and relavent optical set-up
3. Experience in multiple coding languages.
4. Demonstrable understanding of theoretical and experimental spectroscopy.
5. Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
6. Demonstrable work experience and skill in problem solving and novel approaches
7. Knowledge of software development stages in image processing applications.
8. Ability to drive projects independently within the context of a multidisciplinary research team.
9. Ability to communicate complex information clearly.
10. Ability to assess and organise resources.
Desirable attributes:
1. Postgraduate research experience in the development of imaging techniques.
2. Evidence of publication in internationally recognised peer reviewed journals.
3. Industrial experience.
4. Presentations at national and international conferences.
