Are you passionate about nature? Do you have the experience and skills to lead our work with children and young people in Northern Ireland, including through strategy development, establishing partnerships and advocating our education policy objectives? We are looking for a skilled, enthusiastic and highly motivated Education, Families and Youth Manager to work within our NI team. You will support the development of transformational experiences for young people and families across Northern Ireland and seek out new opportunities with funders and partners.
You will be an experienced leader with a track record of developing and managing projects, inspiring teams and managing change, with knowledge of safeguarding, formal education and community outreach. You will have good knowledge and experience of the education and youth sector in Northern Ireland. You will be an excellent communicator who is able to prioritise and think strategically.
You will:
- Contribute to the strategic planning and development of education, youth and family related initiatives to inspire individuals and communities to connect and take action for nature.
- Seek out, develop and maintain partnerships that enable RSPB NI to achieve its ambitions to save nature with and through children and young people in NI.
- As a Safeguarding Adviser, act as the first point of contact for staff seeking support and advice around the implementation of RSPB’s safeguarding policy in their work.
- Help identify and manage new opportunities with funders and manage funded projects to deliver agreed outcomes

Essential skills, knowledge and experience: what are we looking for?
- Knowledge of the formal education sector and the NI curriculum.
- Knowledge and experience of best practice in working with children and young people.
- Knowledge of safeguarding / child protection.
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present to a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrable track record of having developed and managed funding bids and projects.
- Demonstrable track record of having successfully and effectively developed and delivered any or all of the following: education / outdoor learning / youth / family initiatives.
- Ability to build and manage effective and productive relationships, both internally and externally.
- Ability to empower and motivate staff and volunteers to deliver objectives, often without direct line management.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills to manage a diverse workload.
