Custom Scientist (19/DMCS)
We require highly motivated and creative individuals to fulfil challenging research and development roles within our Custom Unit team. This will be a varied role offering the successful applicant great exposure to exciting projects on our Biochip Array Technology products.
The Role:
Tasks within the custom unit area
- Sourcing of novel markers
- Completing costing for new custom arrays
- Adhere to timelines for build of custom kit
- The maintenance of accurate records and strict adherence to established procedures
- The operation, calibration and basic maintenance of the Evidence family of analysers and other analytical instrumentation to generate reliable analytical data.
- R&D for novel markers
- Risk management for a custom array before release
- Transfer of products to manufacturing.
Tasks within the formulation area
- The formulation of multi-conjugates.
- The formulation of assay diluents and conjugate diluents.
- The accurate completion of records.
- The operation and routine maintenance of various types of departmental equipment and analytical instrumentation.
- The following of established standard operating procedures in the formulation and assignment of conjugates.
- The alerting of the Supervisor to any problems in the manufacture or assignment of a conjugate.
Tasks within the QC area
- The adherence to Quality Control procedures in accordance with QC Test Instructions.
- The preparation and handling of various samples, and reagents displaying an awareness of the precautions necessary.
- The operation, calibration and basic maintenance of the Evidence family of analysers and other analytical instrumentation to generate reliable analytical data.
- The processing and visual analysis of results generated.
- The accurate maintenance of quality control records.
- The troubleshooting of analyser problems
The Candidate:
Essential attributes:
- Qualified to at least degree level in a Science subject and/or experience within a production/manufacturing environment
- Ability to work independently within the context of a multidisciplinary research team.
- Possess excellent organisational and communication skills (written and oral).
- Be proficient in the use of Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
Desirable attributes:
- Experience of running and development of ELISA
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety including CoSHH.
