Senior Childcare Worker/ Early Years Leader
Would you like to make a difference to children's lives, be part of a dynamic team and receive a wide range of training? If so, G-Old Sure Start are seeking applicants to join our multi-disciplinary team as a Leader in one of our Developmental Programmes for 2 - 3 year olds / Outreach Play team.
If you have the following we would love to hear from you:
- NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, Learning and Development or equivalent or above, e.g. Degree in Early Childhood Studies.
- Relevant demonstrable experience of working with 0 - 4 year olds.
- Experience of communicating with parents in respect of their children's needs
Candidates must have access to transport to enable them to fulfil the requirements of this post.
The Developmental Programme for 2 - 3-year-olds caters for children in their pre 'pre- school' year and the outreach play service caters for children aged from 8 weeks to 3 years 11 months. Our programmes aim to support families and help children develop improved language skills, improve physical development, enhance social and emotional development, foster greater independence, increase levels of attention and concentration to help children reach their full potential. Therefore, a sound knowledge of child development is essential, as well good observation and written skills to record and monitor progress accurately and provide action plans, reviews and reports for individual children, recognising different needs. Planning, assessment, observations and tracking have to be recorded for children on a daily basis requiring good organisational, IT and time management skills.
You will be required to work with a multi-disciplinary team, including external agencies to improve health and social development. This will include home visiting and family support including supporting children with additional needs and signposting. You will also be supporting the development of early relationships between parents and children.
The setting is registered with Early Years and inspected on a regular basis, therefore minimum standards must be met and all paperwork kept up to date. The role involves supervision of Childcare Workers and safeguarding will be a key part of the role and you will have a duty of care to all the children in the setting and must follow all policies and procedures ensuring children are kept safe at all times.
The successful applicant for this post will be required to undertake an enhanced Access NI with Child Barred List check.

Base: G-Old Sure Start Cookstown – with requirement to work across all our ward areas. (Maghera, Magherafelt, Ardboe, Pomeroy, Dunamore and Cookstown)
Hours: 20 hrs per week
Salary: £24,398 - £28,376 pro rata
