McDonald’s employees compete to win a place at London Olympic Park restaurants

17th September 2013

McDonald’s crew members from across Northern Ireland are converging at the Sprucefield restaurant in Lisburn this weekend to compete for a chance to work at the London 2012 Olympics and serve athletes, media and spectators from across the globe.

Over 120 crew members from the 26 restaurants across Northern Ireland will gather to take part in the event, designed to select McDonald’s best employees to work at the four Olympic Park restaurants.

Alongside serving at the restaurants during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the successful crew will also get the sought after chance to sample some of the sporting action firsthand and experience the buzz and excitement of the Olympic Park.

The Northern Ireland event, one of a series taking place at some of the UK’s busiest McDonald’s restaurants, will see crew members put their skills to the test, demonstrating their speed, customer service and ability to work as part of a new team in a fast paced environment – all essential skills to deliver the ultimate customer experience at the Olympic Park.

Local McDonald’s franchisee John McCollum said: “I’m delighted to welcome crew from across Northern Ireland to the Sprucefield restaurant to compete for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to serve customers, athletes and the visitors at the Games next summer.

“The event, which will see over 120 crew go head to head, is the final hurdle in our selection of the very best people to work in our Olympic Park restaurants.

“Over the last year, restaurant managers have been nominating their strongest employees and following this event close to 40 crew from Northern Ireland will be selected to meet the challenge of the Games.

“Everyone taking part will need to demonstrate that they epitomise McDonald’s team spirit, can adapt to new environments quickly and deliver the best possible customer service – all essential for us to help to deliver the best ever Games.”
