HR’s Role In Business Transformation

This topic will be focus of CIPD NI Annual Conference 

MORE than 200 HR professionals from across Northern Ireland will gather at the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) Northern Ireland Annual Conference.  

The event takes place on May 12 at the ICC Belfast with the theme ‘People-driven workforce transformation’, Delegates will learn about the active role that people professionals can play, working with people across their organisations, to transform the world of work and working places – creating more purposeful, inclusive and productive working cultures and environments, wherever people are working from, and whatever role they’re doing. 

CIPD Members, Networks and Communities Manager, Susan Hayman, who is chairing the conference said: “We’re so excited to be able to hold the conference in person again this year, and we’re really looking forward to being back in Belfast with people professionals from across Northern Ireland for what is going to be a great day of learning, sharing and re-connecting in person.” 

The programme includes international, national and local speakers from a wide range of organisations, plus a number of the CIPD’s own experts. 

In his opening address, CIPD Chief Executive, Peter Cheese, a leading international thought leader on the world of work, will discuss the importance of compassion, values, fairness and wellbeing in leading organisations, and how HR professionals can use their position to shape a fairer, more human-centric post-Covid working world. 

Veronica Hope Hailey, Professor Emeritus at the University of Bath, and Senior Director of The Forward Institute, will discuss how the pandemic has accelerated responsible business agendas, particularly around sustainability, levelling up and inclusion and diversity, and what this means for new leaders and new types of leadership. 

The third keynote session will be from the inspirational sisters behind Dublin-based Izzy Wheels, which provides designer wheel covers for wheelchairs, Izzy and Ailbhe Keane, who will showcase the importance of innovation and a powerful sense of purpose to drive organisations forward. 

Elsewhere the conference programme will include panel sessions and case studies with speakers including Graeme Wilkinson, Director of the Skills Division at the Department for the Economy, Danske Bank HR Director, Caroline van der Feltz, Barbara McKiernan, Managing Director of VANRATH, Jill Minne, Strategic Director of HR, NICS, Deborah Stevenson, People and Operations Director of PwC, Gordon Parkes, Executive Director of HR at Northern Ireland Electricity Networks, Nuala Murphy, Head of Diversity Mark, and Carole Fitzsimons MBE, Chief Executive of Young Enterprise Northern Ireland.
