Electricity Regulator Offers £95k for Director Role

A senior post at the Utility Regulator has been advertised, with a salary of up to £95,000.

The Director of Wholesale Markets, based in Belfast, will oversee the all-island Single Electricity Market (SEM) as well as ensuring that the SEM works for the benefit of consumers in NI. The post-holder will also be closely involved in the wholesale market arrangements that emerge following the UK’s departure from the EU, says the job description.

The Utility Regulator is the independent, non-ministerial government department responsible for regulating Northern Ireland’s electricity, gas, water and sewerage industries, to promote the short-term and long-term interests of consumers.

Based at Queen’s House in the centre of Belfast, the department is run by chief executive Jenny Pyper, who is in charge of a management team of directors representing each of the key functional areas in the organisation.

Its staff team includes economists, engineers, accountants, utility specialists, legal advisers and administration professionals.

Elsewhere, in the civil service, a Senior Management Consultant post (Deputy Principal) at the Department of Finance comes with a salary of up to £40,473. The post will be based at Airport Road West. And in health and social care, the Northern Health and Social Care Trust has advertised five high profile medical positions. The roles include Consultants and Specialist Surgeons.

Among them are a Consultant General Surgeon and a Surgeon with Colorectal interest for the Antrim Hospital and a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, also at Antrim hospital. View the roles here.

In other areas of healthcare, the Health and Social Care Board is seeking to enter into a full-time contract for Provider of General Medical Services in Comber, Co Down.

It is welcoming single or joint applications to take on the current practice, which has 1600 patients in its care. The contractor must have a primary medical degree, among other requirements. View the role here.

And in the Business Services Organisation of the Health and Social Care Trust, which provides a range of shared services including regional business support functions and specialist professional services to HSC, three senior roles have become available.

They are Head of Infrastructure, Head of Programme Delivery and Head of Operations, and salaries are between £58,504 and £71,243. View the roles here.

And in other sectors, De La Salle College in Jersey is seeking a teacher of mathematics. It is offering a salary of up to £53,078 and an “excellent support package.”
