READY THAT ‘OFF THE CUFF’ REPLY

YOU’VE secured the interview and have done all your research on the company and position but now you can give yourself an extra advantage by anticipating the interview scenario and questions. While all interview situations will differ from company to company there are a few generic questions you can expect and prepare for.

TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF

This is a very common interview question. The interviewer does not want a 10 minute ramble about how dedicated an employee you are. Rather they are seeking a short, sharp, succinct overview. The best way to answer this question is to outline your main selling point and attributes. Describe your qualifications and career history and emphasise any relevant skills.

WHY DO YOU WANT THIS JOB:

Ensure that you fully research the company. Then think about what you will bring to the company in this context.

DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN THREE WORDS:

You need to make sure the ones you choose will leave a big impression. The following words are always seen as desirable; Dependable, Punctual, Honest, Driven, Reliable, Organised, Positive, Achiever, Ambitious, Energetic, Dedicated, Motivated, Flexible, Responsible.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS

The general advice is that it is always advisable to ask a few questions. These questions should relate to the job or the company. It is advisable to avoid questions about pay or other benefits
