Academy to equip graduates for work

24th June 2015

A RECRUITMENT academy that has already secured employment for 29 graduates is now hoping to equip a further 20 participants with the skills, knowledge and experience needed to work in the industry.

The third Alexander Mann Solutions Recruitment Academy targets Higher National Diploma and degree graduates from any discipline and offers an intensive six-week training programme leading to the opportunity to compete for a role with Alexander Mann Solutions. Successful participants will also gain an industry-recognised qualification. Speaking at the launch the Minister for Employment and Learning, Stephen Farry said: “This third cohort will provide a further 20 participants with the skills, knowledge and experience required to take up exciting new opportunities with Alexander Mann Solutions, building on the success of the previous two academies, which saw 29 trainees secure employment with the company.”

The academy was designed by the Department for Employment and Learning, Alexander Mann Solutions and Belfast Metropolitan College under the Assured Skills initiative. Training begins on August 17 for the successful applicants and will be jointly delivered by the company and Belfast Met.

Tracy Hurst, head of the Belfast Alexander Mann Solutions Global Client Service Centre, said: “I am Wanted: Trainee engineers delighted that we are embarking on our third round of hiring through the Assured Skills programme. As an organisation, we believe that people are the foundation of success and our ability to attract, retain and engage top talent is critical.”

Applications to the academy will close on Wednesday, July 1. Meanwhile, Julia Clements has been named as this year’s Northern Ireland Vocational Qualification Learner of the Year.

Julia returned to education in 2006 after taking a career break to raise a family. Starting with a level 2 and level 3 in Beauty Therapy she then opened her own beauty therapy business.

At the same time Julia trained as an assessor and began teaching part time in Southern Regional College, where she continued her own studies. With a focus on business, Julia has achieved the level 5 in Beauty Therapy Management Studies and extended her repertoire by achieving a range of vocational awards.
