Role Overview

The evolution of eTrading and automation has changed the way that rates products trade forever; driving a need for real-time market data and low-latency market access.

The Rates eTrading team is responsible for driving and building out a market leading connectivity platform, not just for our Rates Trading business, but in conjunction with partner teams across other asset classes (Equities, Credit, FX). Belfast specifically is becoming a Centre of Excellence around market access and data within Citi, with aspirations to further increase the footprint.


Job Purpose

We are looking for a talented and passionate developer to help continue to evolve our next-generation E-Trading infrastructure.

The role requires a detailed understanding of software design/best practice along with a strong technical ability. The team works closely with global counterparts, often helping design solutions to complex problems, therefore the role requires clear communication across multiple regions and business lines.


Job Opportunities

• Work on a high profile cross-asset project that delivers next-generation performance and functionality
• Will be able to acquire detailed knowledge of the Fixed Income flow and derivatives business domain
• Gain knowledge of Flow Trading Systems
• Utilize low latency programming solutions
• Working directly with global teams on requirements analysis and capture
• Testing and UA coordination
• Liaison with the global business, support and development teams
• Troubleshoot performance and scalability issues
• Third line support of the platform during trading hours
• Ability to translate understanding of Fixed Income Rates/Futures financial products to the full development lifecycle

Knowledge/Experience:

• Object Oriented programming experience
• Agile development / full software life cycle
• Development best practice / Continuous integration
• Desirable: Broker/Customer Markets, Connectivity, Rates products, latency analysis

• Strong verbal/written communication skills; ability to face off to business users
• Good team skills and ability to work in a distributed global team environment
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Self-motivated and with determination to achieve goals

Technical Skills Required:

- Java (extensive years) with experience of concurrency
- Linux (extensive years of experience)
- Object oriented programming experience
- Solid Architectural understanding of enterprise applications

Additional Information / Preferences

- Knowledge of Interest Rates or Futures products (e.g. Treasuries/Swaps)
- Experience of working with large financial software systems
- Experience of market connectivity within any asset class


Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or a related field.
