Role: Account Manager

Company: Manley’s

Track Record:

What does your role involve?
As Client Services Manager I consider my role to be the essential link between Manleys’ clients and our skilled brand consultancy, design, web and on screen media teams. At Manleys we work very closely as a team to present our clients with strategic solutions to their marketing and branding needs, drawing on everyone’s experience in order to present the best possible options to our clients. Internally we meet regularly to discuss client projects; there is also some travel involved as we work with such a diverse range of clients in Northern Ireland, ROI, UK and USA.

Why Manleys?
Having started my career in retail marketing as ‘the client’ after graduating University and working my way up to Marketing Manager at Victoria Square, I felt the time was right to broaden my horizons and gain experience in the client facing side of the marketing business. At the time, Manleys were recruiting and its recruitment campaign was entitled ‘Make an Impact’.  It was exactly what I wanted to achieve in my career.  When I visited manleys.co.uk to find out more, the company seemed to offer everything that I had been looking for – I applied and was successful! I’ve been part of Manleys for 6 months and I’m gaining new experience from industry experts every day. I am very lucky!

What personality/qualities do you need to do your job successfully?

Organisation is key as well as an ability to prioritise. Things change at a rapid pace in this industry and that’s one of the elements that I love. Communication is vital, both internally in forms of briefs to studio and externally when in client facing situations. You need to be able to adapt your personality to suit the situation, and I’ve learnt at Manleys that ultimately you must be honest, hard working and genuine.  You must feel the same passion for your client’s service, product or brand as they do in order to help them come up with strategic solutions and deliver their needs. To do this job well you need to be able to work on your own and as part of the many teams that you find yourself in.  That’s something that I think I’ve learnt to do well over the past eight years.

What are the biggest rewards and biggest challenges of the job?

I have always considered my job roles to be rewarding challenges and Manleys is the same. I enjoy the daily challenge of such a diverse role but by far my biggest challenge is time – I never seem to have enough of it!  Thankfully the rewards far outweigh any challenges faced along the way. The most rewarding aspect is when you get it right as a team and celebrate success together!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

I’m a great believer in the fact that everything happens for a reason so when things happen that are not expected I try and remember the phrase “what’s for you won’t go past you…”

What advice would you give someone who wanted to do the same job?

Work hard and listen carefully, sometimes great things can come out of tiny, throw away comments!  Experience teaches a great deal so throw yourself into as many projects as possible to gain an understanding of the industry.

What do you enjoy outside work?

Spending time with family. I also love the gym and try to keep as active as possible but I love Saturday mornings just at home with my husband. I’m originally from Dungannon so I enjoy regular trips back home to visit my mum, dad, brother and sister too.

Can you give us an interesting fact about Manleys?
